Clemence Watches is a deeply conscientious independent British microbrand founded by Tom Clemence, an ecologist by training whose environmental background heavily informs the brand’s operational ethics. Based in the United Kingdom, Clemence operates with a distinct “sea-to-summit” design philosophy, pairing vintage mid-century elegance with uncompromising tool-watch architecture. Notably, Clemence is heavily dedicated to environmental legacy, operating as a certified climate-positive brand that funds the planting of native UK trees for every single watch sold to actively offset double the carbon footprint of each timepiece’s life cycle.
Clemence’s visual signature is characterised by fluid light-play, organic curves, and rich dial topography that captures the essence of the great outdoors. The brand is celebrated for its masterful case finishing, utilising heavily brushed 316L stainless steel balanced by sharp, unbroken mirror-polished chamfers that visually slim the watch toward the wrist. Their dials showcase remarkable depth, often sporting subtle vertical brushing that evokes hazy precipitation on distant mountain peaks, dramatic sector layouts, or domed outer edges that elegantly swoop into shadow under box-section sapphire crystals.
TWJ Favourite Watch
Clemence Munro Ridgeline, one of the first microbrand watches that I came across that looked truly different and stood out. The multicoloured sector dial looks great, and the specs of the watch look top-notch.
