Welcome to This Watch Journey

Welcome to ThisWatchJourney. I’m Dan a Birmingham (UK) based watch enthusiast. I’ve been calling myself a collector for about 2 years now and decided this year to start sharing my Journey as a watch collector from the smart watch and a Rotary that started the journey through to my grail or dream watches. (a 1970’s Omega Speedmaster MKII or the Seamaster Aqua Terra with the teal dial in case you wondered!)

I enjoy most watches, mainly focusing on affordable watches and microbrands. My collection ranges from £30 – £40 Casio’s up to £450 microbrand watches. I typically have 20-30 watches in my collection, so plenty to review and share!.

So why this site? What’s it all about? Earlier this year I ventured onto the world of social media, to share my passion for watches and some short reviews of the watches in my collection. This site felt like the natural progression in order to provide more detailed and in depth reviews of watches along with guides for beginners, new brands or new watches I’ve found along with articles about my own personal journey. The hope is that this site might help someone find a great watch (or avoid a bad one!) or discover a new brand they hadn’t seen before.

I realise, of course, that all this is dependant on people visiting this site and reading the reviews in the first place…but what was that line in the film Field of Dreams…”if you build it they will come”.. (a very obscure reference to a 1989 classic!)

My journey so far has taught me alot about watches, and that there is a good quality watch out there for everyone. They come in all shapes and sizes and more importantly all price ranges. My hope is this site is useful, fair, informative but also fun and interesting. The best thing about watch collecting is the community so this site is my way of giving back.
