Christopher Ward is a pioneering British independent brand that fundamentally disrupted the modern watch industry. Founded in 2004. The brand is designed in England but hand-built entirely in Biel, Switzerland. They gained fame as the world’s first online-only, direct-to-consumer luxury watch brand, exposing massive industry retail markups by promising high-end Swiss engineering at an honest price point.
Christopher Ward’s visual signature is characterised by its proprietary, fluidly curved “Light-catcher™” case architecture, exceptional multi-layered dial topography, and a masterful interplay of sharp brushed and mirror-polished facets. The brand famously positions its text-free twin-flag logo symmetrically beneath the 12 o’clock position, emphasising a clean spatial layout. Known for democratizing premium features, they equip their bracelets with tool-less iLink length-altering mechanisms and on-the-fly micro-adjust clasps. They are celebrated for high-complication architectural artistry, famously winning the prestigious GPHG Petite Aiguille award for their open-wheel dial-side engineering.
TWJ Favourite Watch
The Sealander range was the watch that first attracted me to Christopher Ward. My Favourite, though, has to be the limited edition release of the C60 Pool diver. The summer look and feel, and the tongue-in-cheek, inner dial design are fun and playful but the watch still looks great too.
