Alkimos Watches is an independent Australian microbrand rooted in the coastal landscapes of Western Australia. The brand takes its name and inspiration directly from the famous SS Alkimos shipwreck resting off the coast north of Perth, which ran aground during rough seas in 1963 and became a local symbol of mystery, resilience, and maritime history. Founded by a local resident who settled in the town of Alkimos in 2015, the brand operates on a story-driven philosophy that pays homage to Western Australian coastal living—creating purpose-built maritime timepieces designed to capture the spirit of ocean exploration, weathered steel, and shifting coastal light.
Alkimos’s visual signature is defined by bold nautical tool-watch architecture, high-legibility dials, and rugged aquatic finishes. The brand draws design cues directly from maritime instrumentation and shipwreck heritage—incorporating deep oceanic blue and stealthy “Ghostship” dial colorways, clean scannable indices, and high-contrast GMT travel scales. Cases are crafted from marine-grade 316L stainless steel, paired with scratch-resistant sapphire crystals, robust screw-down crowns, and bright applications of Swiss Super-LumiNova engineered to withstand low-light underwater and evening conditions.

Alkimos’ debut range, the Ghost Ship GMT, is currently available for reservations. My pick would be the classic-looking Ghost Ship Midnight Edition with the Black textured dial and blue accents.
