Straton Watch Company is a highly prominent, design-driven independent microbrand founded in 2015 by South African designer, watch enthusiast, and real-world racing driver Kyle Schut. Based out of Switzerland, the brand completely bypasses mass-market corporate design templates. Instead, Straton operates as a pure, tightly curated love letter to 1960s and 1970s track racing culture, vintage sports chronographs, and historic grand touring cars—a passion so authentic that Schut actively fields his own branded race cars on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Straton’s visual signature is entirely original, defined by explosive retro color palettes, complex case geometry, and absolute dashboard legibility. Drawing direct aesthetic cues from vintage tachymeter scales, competition stopwatch layouts, and iconic team liveries (evoking classic racing motifs like the Gulf and Martini racing stripes), Straton utilizes deeply recessed sub-dials, highly stylized retro typography, and bold contrasting hands. They place an immense focus on collector-centric wearability, offering many of their complex, angular case styles in multiple diameter sizes simultaneously to ensure a perfect wrist fit.
